The two thousandth SCHWIND laser system for refractive corneal surgery is used in the Ayrshire Eye Clinic in Ayr, Scotland. Prof. Sathish Srinivasan, founder and Medical Director, is very pleased to use the jubilee model in the private eye clinic: „The decisive factors for our choice were the excellent performance and safety features as well as the good treatment outcomes that have been achieved and published in various scientfic journals. With our AMARIS 1050RS, we will focus on treating our refractive patients with the touch-free TransPRK/SmartSurfACE method.“ Prof. Srinivasan is the current president of the UK and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and is a well-respected key opinion leader in the field of cataract and corneal surgery with many years of surgical experience.
SCHWIND users have performed around eight million treatments with SCHWIND AMARIS excimer lasers to date. With four million treatments, LASIK performed with a femtosecond laser or a microkeratome is the most frequently chosen method- Moreover, touch-free TransPRK/SmartSurfACE continues to enjoy strong demand. Around 1.9 million treatments have been carried out so far. Currently around 30 percent of all treatments are performed as TransPRK/SmartSurfACE procedures.
„We are proud to have topped the milestone of 2,000 installed laser systems“, comments SCHWIND CEO Rolf Schwind. „The large number shows clearly that our SCHWIND AMARIS product family is a continued success story and enjoys high popularity around the globe“. Two thirds of SCHWIND lasers that have been installed so far are marked with the brand name AMARIS.
As its introduction in 2007, the SCHWIND AMARIS excimer laser quickly established itself as the market pacesetter, and it has been continuously refined since then. With pulse rates up to 1050 hertz and eye tracking that actively compensates for eye movements in up to seven dimensions of space and time, it ranks among the leading technologies. The benefits of the SCHWIND AMARIS include a very broad range of refractive and therapeutic applications, for example PresbyMAX for presbyopia treatments or KPL function for planning and performing corneal transplants. More than 240 peer-reviewed publications by SCHWIND users consistently reflect predictability, precision, and safety of the AMARIS product family
