SCHWIND ATOS® Receives Approval for Sale in China

Launches with SmartLASIK Platform

SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions has received regulatory approval to market its ATOS femtosecond laser in China.

SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions has received regulatory approval to market its ATOS femtosecond laser in China, marking a significant milestone in the company's global expansion. The approval currently covers flap creation procedures, aligning with China's shifting market dynamics that now favor customized laser eye treatments over lenticule extraction.

This strategic development was highlighted with the successful launch of the “SmartLASIK Platform” ahead of the CCRS Congress in Dalian. Organized by SCHWIND’s distributor Gaush, a pre-congress user meeting attracted around 150 surgeons, including key opinion leaders and prominent advocates of lenticule-based surgeries—underscoring growing interest in personalized refractive solutions.

The SmartLASIK Platform integrates advanced technologies:

  • Diagnostic systems
  • SCHWIND Foresight for visualisation
  • ATOS for flap creation
  • CustomEyes treatments with the AMARIS laser system

International experts lent support to the launch. Dr. Kishore Pradhan (Nepal) and Dr. David Kang (South Korea) presented on the clinical benefits of ATOS and ForeSight in combination with customised treatments, alongside SCHWIND’s Tobias Ewering, who showcased SmartLASIK’s unique capabilities.

“Beyond business, our mission is about transforming lives,” said Domenic von Planta, CEO at SCHWIND. “With ATOS and SmartLASIK, we’re empowering surgeons to deliver better outcomes and improve patients’ quality of life.”
