Excellence in Business to Business - Medical Technologies

SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions proudly presents the first award for the youngest member of its laser product family: the SCHWIND ATOS femtosecond laser has recently received the prestigious "Winner" award at the German Innovation Awards 2021 in the "Excellence in Business to Business" - Medical Technologies "category. SCHWIND ATOS convinced the jury with up-to-date technology, sophisticated safety concepts and a new design. The German Innovation Awards honour products and solutions across sectors, which differ from previous solutions mainly by being user-centred and offering added value. ‘Making great achievements visible to a wide audience’ is the motto of the competition. With 680 entries in 2021, the German Innovation Awards achieved once again a great response.

“Congratulations to the team. The award is both an honour and an obligation”, says CEO Rolf Schwind. “The latest SCHWIND laser is the result of innovative research as well as longstanding, comprehensive expertise in refractive surgery. It is our passion and remains as our target to continuously establish innovative, outstanding technology and treatment standards to support our users and their patients best possible.”

State-of-the-art femtosecond laser technology

The award-winning femtosecond laser enables lenticule extraction (SmartSight) for the treatment of myopia and astigmatism as well as flap creation in FemtoLASIK. Featuring intelligent eye tracking with pupil detection and cyclotorsion compensation, SCHWIND ATOS provides precise centring of the patient’s eye along the visual axis. The shape of the innovative patient interface follows the corneal limbus and reduces pressure on the eye. The optimised lenticular geometry is not limited by a minimum thickness, and is tissue saving. Whether lenticules or flaps, SCHWIND ATOS exhibits a homogenous surface, making SmartSight lenticule extraction simple and allowing the flap to be easily lifted. Moreover, SCHWIND ATOS impresses with trim dimensions and a small footprint for flexible use.

"German Design Council"

The awards honour pioneering examples of innovation that demonstrate a lasting impact. The jury is made up of independent, interdisciplinary experts from industry, science, institutions, and finance. The entries are evaluated based on the criteria level of innovation, user benefits and efficiency.it.
